Katelynn Cofer is a passionate dancer and educator with more than 20 years of performance and teaching credits to her name. She is originally from Wyoming and holds a BFA in Theater and Dance from the University of Wyoming. During her studies, she collaborated with guest choreographers on significant works, including the reconstruction of Louis Fuller’s Ballet of Light, Anna Sokolow’s Ride the Culture Loop, My Sweet…Love, with Peter Pucci, and Cavatina with Graham Lustig and Bat Abbit’s.
Kate continued her career with the Ballet Theatre of Maryland, performing in productions such as The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, The Nutcracker, and Romeo and Juliet. She later joined the Bowen McCauley Dance Company in Arlington, Virginia, where she danced original works by choreographer Lucy Bowen McCauley.
Throughout her performing journey, Kate has been dedicated to teaching at local studios, outreach programs, and earned fitness certifications to teach Zumba, Pilates, and Barre classes. After transitioning to full-time educator, she spent four years at the Nashville Ballet School where she played a key role in developing the Children’s Program and directing their spring performances.
Kate is thrilled to begin this new chapter of teaching at Virginia Ballet Company, supported by her husband and three children.
