Shady Mohamed, a native of Egypt, is an accomplished ballet dancer, choreographer, and instructor. Shady trained in the Russian technique at the High Institute of Ballet in Egypt before receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Choreography and Directing from the prestigious Academy of Art in Cairo.
In 2004, Shady joined the National Ballet Theatre in Cairo, where he danced soloist and principal roles. Shady moved to America in 2013 and was a principal dancer with Manassas Ballet Theatre, Charlottesville Ballet, and has been a guest artist with the Virginia Ballet Company since 2016. Throughout his career, Shady has performed in a number of classical ballets including Don Quixote, Sleeping Beauty, Les Sylphides, Cinderella, Swan Lake, Romeo and Juliet, The Nutcracker, La Sylphide, Le Corsaire, Coppelia, Spartacus Ballet, Bolero, Rite of Spring, Carmena Burana, Little Mermaid, Midsummer Night’s Dream, Beauty and the Beast, Dracula, and Sleepy Hollow. He toured in countries such as France, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Belgium, Spain, Mexico, Armenia, Georgia, Turkey, and Russia. Shady also performed in the musical Oklahoma with the Charlottesville Opera.
Shady competed and placed first in the Ballet Competition of Egypt, an event organized by the Ministry of Culture. Other than performing, from 2009 to 2011, he collaborated as a choreographer with the Theatre du Vieux Moulin in Meythet, France.
