BALLET, CHARACTER, AND MODERN INSTRUCTOR | ADAPTIVE DANCE PROGRAM LEAD
Christine Gilmore first came to Virginia Ballet Company as a young student in 2003 and grew up receiving training here for 11 years. While at VBC, she performed such roles as Swanhilda in Coppélia, Odette/Odile in Swan Lake, Kitri in Don Quixote, and Sugar Plum Fairy in The Nutcracker. Ms. Gilmore then went on to dance ballet professionally for 2.5 years. Upon retiring, she attended college and graduated with a degree as an Occupational Therapy Assistant. Since returning to VBC as an instructor, she has used her knowledge to teach Healthy Dancer classes in which students learn about injury prevention, recovery techniques, and the mental and physical skills they will need as dancers. Ms. Gilmore is further combining her two interests of ballet and Occupational Therapy concepts as the Adaptive Dance Program Lead. She has completed Boston Ballet’s Adaptive Dance Teacher Training Program and is excited to help bridge the gap in dance accessibility for everyone.
